Pig farming ... odorless

The biggest pig breeder "bored" is the smell of waste in the barn. But with this type of probiotics mixed with food that Vietnamese scientists have researched and manufactured, this "problem" is no longer available.

'Hearing the Hanoi University of Agriculture I (NHN I HN) coordinated to visit the model of "raising pigs without feces", I registered to participate immediately . Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc from Team 4, Nam Son commune (Soc Son, Hanoi), pig farm owner is testing the type of odor deodorant enamel.

Clean cages, pigs grow fast

Although investing up to 65 million VND to build a biogas tunnel with a width of 200m 3 , his pig farm only handles 50% of waste. 'The house is near the farm, the hot days of sunshine, the end of the sound of the pig's ears, the smell of waste and all the brain aches,' Phuc said.

In a few days visiting the model, Mr. Phuc was given a few boxes of probiotics in the form of 'portable'. Helped by scientists in the Department of Animal Husbandry and Aquaculture, Hanoi University of Agriculture, he was determined to experiment.

According to the instructions, the floor of the pigsty to eliminate odor must be lined with a sawdust paddling layer about 40cm thick. If it is a cement foundation, some holes should be perforated to allow microorganisms to come into contact with the soil to increase efficiency. Men are mixed in proportion to every three packets (150 grams / pack) mixed with 10kg of corn flour, then spread evenly on the floor about 20m 2 . Using probiotics, pigs are healthy and grow faster. After two months of testing, the weight of pigs in the barn uses probiotics of 20-23kg / head, while in the pen, it usually only reaches 17-18kg / head.

Now, even though the sky is heavy, standing in the middle of Phuc's pig stall still does not smell bad. Pig manure is broken down by microorganisms such as sawdust.

Self-produced probiotics

Dr. Nguyen Xuan Trach, Dean of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Aquaculture, Hanoi, said, from the appearance of the model of raising pigs in China, from June 2009, "The project of research and testing of addiction to men The microorganism used in pig breeding ' of the Faculty has been supported by the Agriculture Extension Department, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, with 100 million VND.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Le, in charge of the technical department, said: "The project is being tested in three points: Soc Son, Hanoi, Nghia Hung, Nam Dinh and Van Giang, Hai Duong ." According to Dr. Tuyet Le, the University of Agriculture I HN's probiotics are working, the ability to deodorise is very good. However, it is necessary to have more time to check the useful life of yeast.

The project leader, Dr. Bui Quang said, by December 2009, he will conduct a pre-acceptance test on the research topic of deodorizing pig manure, and if possible, mass production will be carried out.

According to Dr Tuyet Le's calculations, the cost of producing microbiological products of the University of Agriculture I HN when producing will be 8-10% lower than imported products. The advantage of yeast is that it stimulates pigs to digest well, grow quickly, be less infected and have the ability to deodorize right from the pig stomach, deodorizing rate reaches about 80%.

Dr Tuyet Le said there are millions of useful microbial cells in every gram of deodorant. When mixed with bedding, as well as fermenting in biogas tanks, these useful microorganisms will eat manure, decompose organic matter in pig manure, including organic substances causing the stench of stool). In the process of decomposing organic substances in pig manure, the amount of microbial cells is increasing, so it still has the effect of deodorizing when the pigs are large and discharging more fertilizers.

Dr Tuyet Le also instructed: It is advisable to bury the manure in the coop so that the yeast will decompose better, and when the yeast has decomposed, the pig can bend. Thereby, yeast stimulates pigs to digest well, grow quickly and it can deodorize right from the time when the stool is still in the pig's stomach.
