Feed commercial crabs in earthen ponds

In order to help people diversify farming species, in early 2006, Thua Thien Hue Fisheries Extension Center n - Hue implemented commercial crab farming model in earthen ponds. This is a new form of farming for the first time deployed in the province.

The model is implemented in 2 communes: Phu Thuan and Vinh Phu (Phu Vang district), with an area of ​​4000 m ² . The Center has selected households with ponds to ensure the area, solid embankment, experience in production, good communication ability and willingness to share experiences with people.

According to Mr. Chau Ngoc Phi - Officer of Fishery Extension Center of Thua Thien - Hue Province: With a stocking density of 10 animals / m2, after 2 months of culture, he initially developed relatively well, survival rate is over 70%. It is expected that after 3 months of raising, it will be pruned and supplied to the domestic market, as well as to invest in the households to raise crabs .

Farmed crabs have many advantages : Fast, good meat, crab's food are fresh fish, clean body armor, 4, 5 months and 3 months rearing period can be harvested for sale. The success of the model will open new directions in aquaculture for fishermen.
