Portable toilets run on biogas
Japan's largest sanitary ware company, TOTO, has launched portable toilets powered by biogas. It is considered as part of a campaign to reduce by 50% the amount of CO 2 emitted from the toilet in 2017.
TOTO is the leader in finding solutions to replace existing fuel sources in Japan. The use of diesel, solar power, even today's sound power batteries are inevitably polluting the environment. Therefore, the company uses the fuel from the human waste itself. This way, both fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly.
The mobile toilet called Bike Neo is actually a three wheeler with a single seat on the fixed toilet seat. The fuel used to drive the car is the biogas converted from the urine itself. This technology has not been widely publicized, but can be found in the company's blog.
Neo Bike will be officially launched on the journey of nearly 100km (starting from TOTO headquarter in Kitakyushu to Nakatsu, Kyoto and stopping at Tokyo) starting from 6-10.
