Pregnant women should give birth in the 37th week
According to a study published in the BMJ medical journal, pregnant women should give birth in the 37th week of pregnancy to improve their chances of survival.
The most appropriate double pregnancy is 37 weeks to minimize the risk of life-threatening children.
An international team of scientists summarized 32 studies in the past 10 years for 35,171 double pregnancies, of which 29,685 are twins of different eggs (meaning that each twins will have two placenta separately), and 5,486 double pregnancies with eggs (ie the two children only have one placenta).
They found that the number of premature newborns in twins and eggs was 13 times higher than for single births and five times higher than for other twins.
For other cases of double-ovarian pregnancy, the risk of premature death and premature birth remains until the 37th week of pregnancy. However, a one week delay in childbirth, meaning the 38th week, can lead to an average increase in the risk of death of 8.8 children in 1,000 children.
Therefore, the group of scientists said that the most appropriate time for twin pregnancies is 37 weeks to minimize the risk of life-threatening children , instead of giving birth recommendations in the period of 34-39 weeks as today. .
Besides, they also advised that it should not be born before 36 weeks since conception.
