Producing biofuel from dry straw and trees

Scientists at the University of Twente (Netherlands) have just studied a new method that can extract biofuels with high efficiency and low cost from agricultural and forestry waste.

Picture 1 of Producing biofuel from dry straw and trees Dr. Sasha Keersiteng of the University of Twente said that currently the method of biofuel production mostly uses resolution technology at high temperatures to create compounds from biological materials.

It then continues to react between the compound and hydrogen at high temperatures, high pressures and catalyst effects. Finally, the direct refining process for extraction into biofuel.

However, the new method mainly focuses on the reaction phase between compound and hydrogen.

The new method uses second-generation biofuel production technology using agro-forestry scraps such as dry straw and trees.

Compared to the first generation biofuels produced using raw materials such as sugar and starch, biofuels produced by new methods will not consume human food.

This new biofuel production method is expected to be produced on a large scale, thanks to its high efficiency and reduced cost.
