Currently, in Vietnam, the production of alcohol is mainly from sugar molasses so the efficiency of alcohol production is not high, not yet taking advantage of alcohol-based preparations so the price of alcohol is more expensive than the common cost of the region.

Sugar cane sugar is a byproduct of the liquid, reddish brown sugar industry containing some minerals, metals .

A team of the Institute of Tropical Biology has succeeded in producing alcohol from tapioca residue, sliced tapioca. By starch sugar technology, every 15 kg of tapioca residue or 2.5 kg of potatoes will produce 1 liter of 94.5% alcohol.

Alcohol from this agricultural waste will be cheaper than alcohol from sugar cane molasses about 20%; on the other hand, bio-products used in animal husbandry reduce environmental pollution due to drying tapioca residue.

Reportedly, the total output of cassava in Vietnam is 2.7 million tons / year. Every day a starch factory with a capacity of 200 tons / day will produce about 100 tons of tapioca residue, humidity 80%, equivalent to about 67 liters of alcohol.
