Production of seed potatoes saves money

Office of the State-level Key Science Programs indicates the project 'Research on the improvement and development of technology for processing potato root tubers derived from tissue culture technology combined with aeroponic technology' Since the scientists of the Institute of Agricultural Biology, Hanoi University of Agriculture have helped save our country billions of money to import potato seeds every year.

Scientists have selected a suitable potato variety for processing. Those are Atlantic, Megechip, Beacon chipper varieties. The dry matter content of varieties ranged from 21-23%, starch from 18-21%, reducing sugar 0.025-0.035%, in accordance with the standard for processing.

With the model of producing super-prototypal tubers, primitive and confirmed that the processed potato varieties have been built, the project team has applied the results to reality. The result is 90 tons of pure seed tubers for production of certified seed tubers; 200 tons of certified tubers were born.

According to calculations by scientists, after solving the demand for seed, potatoes will become the main crop in the winter season in the Northern Delta and an important commodity production industry.
