Puppy mummy in the crypt

A small package was found at the foot of an Egyptian mummy in a tomb carved with the words 'Hapi-Men'. This package contains the rest of a puppy.

So the staff of the University of Pennsylvania Archaeological and Anthropological Museum put it as 'Hapi-Puppy'. This mummy is dated to about 2,300 years ago, discovered when a CT scan scans it. This is one of the rare mummy pets. In ancient Egypt, people often embalmed cats, birds, even crocodiles but very rarely embalmed dogs.

Jennifer Wegner, a senior scientist who studies Egyptian mummies explained that the ancient Egyptians did not think there was a dog god. In fact, they worship Anubis (who is a doghead) but it is a jackal and not a dog. So, in this case, scientists think that Hapi-Men simply wants to bury his pet dog with him.
