Why did a powerful emperor like Qianlong suffer such a 'catastrophic' situation after his death?
The Qing Dynasty was the last feudal dynasty in Chinese history. This is also considered one of the most prosperous dynasties of China with a duration of 276 years. At the ruler of the country consisted of 12 emperors, of which Qian Long was one of the most famous emperors of the Qing Dynasty.
He is the longest-lived emperor in Chinese history. Both his tenure and rule lasted 63 years and was also the heyday of the Qing Dynasty. Qianlong was a powerful emperor, but 200 years after his death, his tomb was dug up, surprising everyone, why?
Tomb of Emperor Qianlong
After Qian Long died, he was buried at Thanh Dong mausoleum. This is a royal palace complex with excellent feng shui built in 1661 (18th Thuan Tri year) to 1908 (34th year Quang Tu). To complete this complex of tombs took a total of 247 years to build.
In the mausoleum are buried 5 emperors and 15 queens, 136 concubines, 3 A Ca and 2 princesses. As we all know, people in ancient society, especially in the royal and aristocratic classes, attach great importance to post-burial. After they die, they are often buried with many jewels and treasures. In 1912, the Qing dynasty had collapsed, tomb robbers were preparing to attack the Qing Dong mausoleum.
Ton Dien Anh is considered a notorious public grave thief.
In the spring of 1928, Sun Dien Anh, a warlord of the Republic of China period, was ordered to the eastern Hebei region to suppress bandits. On the way through Thanh Dong mausoleum, I saw the magnificent mausoleum, so I had an intention to get treasure here.
What did the Qianlong emperor's tomb experience?
In the summer of 1928, Ton Dien Anh took the name of a military exercise to take care of the mausoleum. After that, he robbed Ding Dong Tomb of Empress Dowager Cixi in this tomb complex. All the gold, silver, and jewels in the Tomb of Empress Dowager Cixi made Sun Dien Anh very surprised by the huge amount.
After breaking into Dinh Dong mausoleum, Ton Dien Anh went to Thanh Du mausoleum, which is Qian Long's tomb, not far away.
Qianlong's tomb has many more treasures than Empress Dowager Cixi's tomb, too many precious jewels to count.
When he was alive, Qianlong was very fond of calligraphy. Therefore, when he died, this emperor was also buried with many precious calligraphy. However, for Ton Dien Anh, these are all scraps of paper with no monetary value. Many precious calligraphy were even torn and thrown away.

Not only that, the remains of Emperor Qianlong along with his five other empresses and concubines were also seriously damaged.
These frenzied grave robbers threw the remains of Qianlong and the five empresses and concubines on the ground and mixed them up. Qianlong's skull was smashed, even worse, soaked in the dirty water of the underground palace, and it took more than a month to find his remains.
After the Thanh Dong mausoleum was excavated and stolen, the old gods loyal to the people who loved the Qing dynasty were very disgruntled. Especially the emperor Pu Nghi, although he abdicated, is still the most influential person in the Ai Xin Giac La family. He and many descendants of Ai Xin Giac La used all means to demand justice for the destroyed Qing Dynasty tomb.
However, Ton Dien Anh is an adept wanderer. After stealing Thanh Dong mausoleum, he gave away most of the most precious treasures. Specifically, Ton Dien Anh gave Da Minh Chau to Chiang Kai-shek's second wife, Tong My Linh. Kowloon treasures Qianlong's sword, Sun Dien Anh asked Dai Lap to give it to Chiang Kai-shek. Even the necklace on Qian Long's neck was also given to Dai La.
Although Pho Nghi and his descendants brought Ton Dien Anh to court, it did not have a great influence on him. But in the end, after more than 20 years of wandering around the law, Sun Dien Anh was captured by the People's Liberation Army of China in 1947.
