Rain flood isolated thousands of households in Quang Nam

Huynh Ngoc Thieu, deputy head of the Bac Tra My District Flood and Rescue Search Department, said the isolated situation took place yesterday. In order to ensure the safety of life for the people, the district mobilized traffic police, commune teams to block in deep-lying places, absolutely not allowing people and vehicles to pass.
The long-lasting rainfall yesterday measured in Bac Tra My district is 550mm. Many people went to Nam Tra My district or worked in the upland communes of Bac Tra My district, caught in the middle of the road, had to sleep temporarily at people's houses.
According to Quang Nam Hydrometeorological Center, due to the influence of cold air combined with the East wind with strong intensity from November 22 to 26, the basin of Song Tranh 2 hydropower project has a very heavy rain. Water flow to this hydroelectric reservoir is capable of exceeding 1.50 m 3 / s.

Mr. Nguyen Van Lan, deputy director of Tranh River Hydropower Company said, to proactively cut floods for the downstream area, from November 21 until now, the project has discharged water to control floods with an average discharge of 90 m 3 / s. However, if heavy rains last, it is possible that hydropower will discharge overflowing water to 1,300 m 3 / s.
Meanwhile, prolonged heavy rains have also caused many mountain cliffs, causing many congestion in highland districts of Quang Ngai. Mr. Pham Tan Hoang, Chairman of Son Tay District People's Committee, said that there has been a serious mountain landslide in Tang Bo residential area, Son Lien commune, threatening the lives and property of 10 households with more than 40 people. .
The district has instructed the authorities to relocate all these people urgently to temporary residents with other households.
