Cold sauna - a method to relax with nitrogen gas at temperatures below -100 degrees Celsius
A health and wellness center in New York City called KryoLife has introduced a new treatment, using a sauna that can blow super-cold air in about -120 to - 164 degrees Celsius.
The founder and chief executive of KryoLife Center, Joanna Fryben said that people who come here really like this cold sauna method , about 90% of those who tried this method came back to us.
Cold sauna is a very popular treatment in Europe to relieve pain and treat some chronic diseases. Currently this method has begun to be applied in the US, used for professional athletes.
This is the device used for cold sauna.
The liquid nitrogen container, at standard temperature and pressure, liquid nitrogen turns into gas to pump into the steam chamber.
Liquid nitrogen after gasification has a temperature of about -200 degrees Celsius and can cause frostbite immediately. However, before pumping into the chamber, it is adjusted through the central system.
Nitrogen gas is filled in the chamber, covering the entire body and leaving only the head.
Participants need to wear socks, underwear and gloves to avoid direct contact with nitrogen gas.
Measure blood pressure to ensure good health before treatment.
People who have been in the cold sauna say that they are comfortable and refreshing.
Central control system, monitoring the whole process.
After the cold sauna, the patients said that they felt like they had just taken a flight by roller coaster at an altitude of 1,000m.
Since the entire sauna is nitrogen gas, it does not have oxygen below. However, if you want to cool your whole head, a breathing tube will help you do that.
The treatment process ended by blowing away the remaining nitrogen droplets from the body.
