A man in the United States woke up after nearly 20 years in a coma. It was Mr. Terry Wallis who was comatose in a car accident in 1984 and woke up in June 2003. This is a special case being studied by doctors.

When Terry Wallis got into an accident in 1984, doctors said he had very little chance because there was almost no progress after a long time in the vegetative state.
19 years later, in June 2003, Terry Wallis suddenly awoke and called his mother's name - Mrs. Angille. Unaware that nearly 20 years have passed, Mr. Terry still thinks that Mr. Ronald Reagan is the US President. Since then, he continues to recover well. So far, doctors still seek answers to this strange phenomenon.
Neuroscientist Nicholas Schiff said: "This is a rare case. So far, we have never met such a situation."
In the July 3 issue of the Journal of Medical Research, neuroscientists said they had clear evidence that Wallis' brain had healed itself by connecting new neurons. Mr. Nicholas Schiff pointed out that Mr. Wallis's case opens new ideas in research to restore damaged brains.
