Japanese designers hope the robots will become health care vehicles in future hospitals.

The robot, EMIEW 2 , is the latest version of the service robot designed and engineered by Hitachi. The highlight of the EMIEW 2 robot is that it recognizes the location of objects in a daily room as a watch using a camera. In addition, EMIEW also has the ability to compare the colors and shapes of objects with the sample images in the archive database.

However, researcher Takashi Sumiyoshi of the Hitachi Research Center said that the weakness of the technology is limited by the amount of information stored in the robot.

So far, designers have yet to come up with a plan to commercialize the EMIEW2 robot, but they hope it will soon emerge as a caring for the elderly in hospitals.
