Robot up space to support astronauts

An artificial intelligence application robot is about to be put on the International Space Station (ISS) to support the day-to-day work for astronauts.

CIMON is an artificial intelligence robot and can operate in a zero gravity environment.

CIMON will be one of the first robots to work with astronauts on ISS.

As planned, CIMON will be launched into space tonight (Vietnam time) and will arrive at ISS on July 2.

A cooperative product between German Aviation Center (DLR), Airbus and IBM, CIMON weighs about 5kg and is equipped with a 3D printing technology application screen that can display data.

In particular, the design team gives CIMON a friendly face, cute voice with an artificial neural network that acts like a human brain.

After going to ISS, CIMON will work with astronaut Alexander Gerst of the European Space Agency (ESA). CIMON supports video-related jobs, displays images and also plays the role of a supervisor recording astronaut's activity materials on ISS.

CIMON is programmed to recognize the image and voice of Gerst. In addition, CIMON can understand language, symbols and principles on ISS, enabling robots to communicate with astronauts on the ISS station.

"This robot can talk happily as a colleague and can also express feelings to you" - Matthlas Biniol from IBM shared.

In space, Gerst tested CIMON's ability to work in a zero-gravity environment, as well as training more complex CIMON skills, such as playing rubic.

In the near future, CIMON will be programmed to carry out the "general" work when continuously reminding the schedule of daily activities for astronauts, at the same time detecting and warning technical errors. emergency on ISS.
