Robots can treat autism more effectively than doctors
Robots will soon be able to help children with autism in ways that doctors cannot. It is hoped that robots will work as therapists and help children with autism communicate.
The Nao robot is the product of an international team of scientists. It works based on data obtained from scanning faces and body movements of children with autism. The collected data will be determined by the robot the most effective way to gain the child's attention.
Autistic children work more with robots than real ones because robots are simpler, easier to predict.
Through the operation of the robot, doctors can create a treatment plan that is appropriate for each patient. This opens up channels of communication that have never existed before.
Robot Nao was made by a French robotics company and researchers at Portsmouth University started a project worth 6.7 million euros two years ago. In addition, universities in Switzerland, Belgium, Sweden and Romania also joined to create an active robot model that was available in the market in 2019.
Researchers believe that autistic children cooperate more with robots than real people because robots are simpler, easier to predict, and humans are too complex and have many facial expressions.
Other robotic models that do treatment work already exist, but they must be remote controlled and take a lot of time, energy and human support.
