The Russian Federal Space Agency said the launch was about 4 hours (Vietnam time).
The satellite is expected to split from the Zenit 3SLB rocket at 10:30 on the same day and land on a geostationary orbit.
Intelsat-18 is equipped with 32 relay systems and will provide telecommunications services to customers in East Asia, the West Coast region of the US and Pacific.
By design, this type of satellite has a shelf life of about 15 years.
This successful launch occurred in the recent time when Russia's space industry encountered many incidents such as failures or delays for technical reasons .
Earlier, on August 24, the progress cargo ship M-12M to Russia's International Space Station (ISS) fell into the Altai Mountains.
According to the investigation, the accident occurred because the gas supply line of the Soyuz rocket's third-floor engine was blocked.
