Russia's Energia rocket and space company announced on November 23 that it will build a special system to clean up satellite fragments in space around the Earth.
Estimated cost to build the system is nearly 2 billion USD (equivalent to 60 billion rubles).
' Space near the Earth is becoming dense by used satellites and their fragments. Energia has pledged to clean up the area within 10 years. We will collect about 600 satellites that are no longer active in geostationary orbits, then bury them in the ocean '- said Victor Sinyavsky, an Energia company officer.

According to the company, the satellite cleaning system will operate with nuclear power and can operate for 15 years. The assembly of space-gathering equipment will begin in 2020, and testing will begin by 2023.
In addition, Energia is also drafting a system to destroy dangerous outer space objects that are targeting the Earth.
