Russia wants to build the world's largest transport aircraft, usurping Antonov An-124 Ruslan

Russia is expected to build a new super-heavy transport model to replace the Antonov An-124 Ruslan, a transport legend that was once a symbol of the Soviet Union state.

According to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov, the project will fall under the scope of the federal weapons project, although it will not be implemented until 2027.

In June 2018, Russia confirmed it would continue to produce Antonov An-124 jet aircraft, the world's heaviest model of cargo aircraft. The giant Russian cargo plane was first born from the Antonov Design Bureau in Russia's Novosibirsk but later moved its headquarters to Kiev, Ukraine.

Russia insists it will continue to produce Antonov An-124 jet aircraft.

Russia insists it has the right to use any aircraft design despite Ukraine's intellectual property claims. To meet the requirements of modernization and put on a new brand, this model of aircraft will have to change very strongly.

Analysts say Russia has the ability to build new aircraft, but it still needs to upgrade the An-124 Ruslan to ensure civilian and military transport capacity.

Russian technical doctor and honorary pilot Vladimir Popov shared: "Antonov's office in Ukraine is in every way difficult for us to produce this model of transport aircraft. Writing, technology has been transferred to related businesses and we have the right to produce such aircraft ".

The Antonov-124 model of aircraft can carry oversized or military vehicles weighing up to more than 120 tons, with a maximum range of nearly 4,500km at altitudes above 10,000m. The Antonov-124 shipped in December 1982 and began to be used in January 1986. The cargo hold is 36m long, 6.4m wide, 4.4m high and the aircraft can operate in harsh environments with temperatures ranging from -60 ° C to 45 ° C.

To take off, the Antonov-124 must equip four D-18T propulsion engines with 229.5kN thrust / engine and push the speed to 800-850km / h.

After the Antonov-124, the Antonov An-225 Mriya was designed and manufactured by Antonov. This is also the largest transport aircraft model in the world today. Many aviation experts claim, Mriya's Antonov An-225 is actually an Antonov-124 exaggerated design.
