Save the rare forest cat from the popular rice shop

A rare and precious forest cat has just been successfully rescued by the Natural Education Center (ENV) in collaboration with the authorities in Ha Giang province.

On May 10, 2012, through the free hotline to protect wild animals, ENV received information about an individual cat being kept in captivity at a popular rice restaurant in area 4, Vinh Quang town. , Hoang Su Phi district, Ha Giang province. Immediately, ENV transferred this information to Hoang Su Phi Forest Protection Department to verify the clarification.

On the evening of May 10, functional forces checked the above-mentioned rice shop and found that the wild cat was sold to another person in Bac Quang district, Ha Giang province. Shortly thereafter, the authorities of Hoang Su Phi and Bac Quang districts jointly pursued the object of this illegal wildlife trade.

However, the object quickly escaped and the authorities confiscated the wild cat.'Currently the wild cat is being cared for by Bac Quang District Forest Protection Department and expected to be released to Cuc Phuong National Park next week,' said Linh.

The wild cat (Prionailurus bengalensis) in group IB of Decree 32/2006 / ND-CP, is a group of endangered, precious and rare wildlife species, strictly forbidden to exploit and use for commercial purposes.

Previously, on May 2, ENV cooperated with TP Forest Protection Department. Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa) transferred a red-faced monkey (Macaca arctoides) weighing 0.8kg because people voluntarily transferred to Song Lo tourist area to take care of their health before being released to the wild.

Most recently, on May 7, ENV cooperated with TP FPD. Ho Chi Minh received an individual chubby mink (Melogale moschata) voluntarily transferred by the people and brought to the Cu Chi Wildlife Rescue Center safely.
