Save time with new conveyor systems

More and more

More and more "housewives" love to shop at the supermarket, but they often suffer from "snake dragons" lined up at checkout. Understanding this feeling, Asda (UK) has piloted the "Rapid Scan" conveyor system with a 360 degree laser scanner, promising up to 200% reduction in scanning time code goods.

Accordingly, products from apples, eggs, milk and all other pet products will be transported through a mini "scanner" (similar to an airport baggage inspection system) at high speed. . First, all products are loaded onto the conveyor - where they are transferred to a 360 degree scanner with a scan speed of 100 products per minute (0.6 seconds per product respectively).

Next, when all the goods have arrived at the packing area, the conveyor operator will press the control button to activate a chip and battery memory card on the bill and perform payment. As soon as the customer's goods arrive in front of the warehouse, the next customer begins scanning their merchandise.

New technology is also available that can effectively replace traditional forms of payment, since it does not use cash but accepts cards. Asda said it would reconsider its feedback from employees and customers about the new system before deciding to bring the Rapid Scanner to use in all stores.
