Science has just found an extremely horrible ability of German cockroaches

They come from the dark, most humid corners of the Earth. They come out of every corner! Where there is garbage, where they multiply. They are especially difficult to kill. Probably not less than once, you beat them one by one, they lie flat, but then look away, the corpse has disappeared.

But among cockroaches, some species are more persistent than usual. For example, the German cockroach (Blattella germanica) has been raging in apartment buildings in Hanoi and Saigon recently. They are really horrors, not only are they tough but also eat and gnaw everything, from leather, books, plastic packaging to food. More specifically, they are also resistant to some insecticides that are currently used to kill cockroaches that are extremely effective.

However, their abilities are not only that. Recently, a study from Purdue University (USA) revealed another capacity of this cockroach. They are so persistent that they can formulate antibodies against the never-before-used insecticides .

In particular, experts have tried to experiment on several generations of cockroaches (German cockroaches produce very quickly), to check the resistance of this animal to the extent.

"We tried some insecticides, see which ones work best. But even so, we still can't control the proliferation of German cockroaches" - Michael Scharf, insect house learn to know.

Scharf and the team went to an apartment building to trap cockroaches, then put them in the lab, split into two groups to test the resistance. At the same time, the apartment was applied 3 methods of killing insects with frequency of 3 months / time.

The first method is to use a single drug. The second is to use a mixture of 2 drugs. And third, the research team chose the least resistant drug.

The results showed that the solution using a mixture of two drugs was almost ineffective, when the number of cockroaches kept continuously multiplying. The first method can only control the number of cockroaches in a short time.

Their drug resistance increases from 4-6 times in just 1 generation.

Back in the lab, experts want to find out what drugs they fear most, and see if they can completely destroy them. Unfortunately, the results are still the same, when the number can only be controlled in a short time.

The next generation of cockroaches will proliferate as if nothing happened. And in particular, they also form the ability to resist drugs that they have never been exposed to before.

"Their resistance is four to six times in just one generation," Scharf said. "It's really surprising that they can resist so quickly."

The exact reason for them being able to resist fast drugs is still unknown. Unlike viruses, cockroaches do not have such strong resistance to drugs. Or that's just . science thought like that and no specific research.

So, the lesson here is not to let the house become infected with cockroaches, but always clean up so that they don't have a growing environment.
