Previously, Mr. Ha Van Dat, in Village 2, Phu Thu Commune (Doan Hung, Phu Tho) while scouring a gravel machine from Lo River, obtained a strange shaped stone, weighing about 3 kg.

According to observation, on the surface of this object there are many grooves, very similar to the marrow to feed the teeth and its underside is black and glossy. When Dat removed a small piece, the inside was white, burned a piece of stone into charcoal and smelled burning.

When listening to the description of these things, Dr. Nguyen Lan Cuong, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Stratigraphic Society said that it could be fossil teeth of an elephant.

Elephant teeth have the shape and texture of each blade, and fit together. Only new elephant teeth weigh up to 3kg. Moreover, elephants often eat grass according to the principle of rubbing, crushing food to swallow.

Dr. Vu The Long, Paleontologist and Environment Specialist (Institute of Archeology), Deputy Director of the Center for Supporting Social Development Programs (Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations), also said This is the Asian elephant tooth. This species still exists in our country.

According to Mr. Long, elephants have the ability to swim on the river or cross the sea because they have a big belly like a giant buoy and the nose can rise high above the water to breathe. However, because of the heavy weight, this elephant can die because of bogged down.
