Pavlof volcano on an island in Alaska state, USA began spraying on 13/5. The scene in the picture happened on May 18.
Livescience reported the column of smoke and dust from volcanoes to an altitude of about 700m, meaning at least 320km away from the International Space Station (ISS). However, many airlines still postpone flights or request a change of direction to prevent incidents. Dust falls on some residential areas near the volcano.
Earth observation satellites help the Alaska Volcanic Observatory track more than 30 volcanoes in Alaska state. Most of them are located far away from cities, but their dust can cause trouble for aircraft.
