Set of antique jewelry in thousands of years old silver gold

New scientists unearthed the gold and silver jewelry set at Tel Megiddo archaeological site, dating from 1100 BC in the Jezreel valley, north of Israel.

Tel Megiddo is an important center of the Medites in Canaan in ancient times (around the 10th century BC).

The boat was found in 2010, but until recently it was cleaned up, researchers discovered ancient jewelry.

The jewelry set consists of a ring, some earrings and some stone beads. All are well preserved in a piece of fabric, however, its origin remains a mystery to scientists.

David Ussihkin, a researcher at Tel Aviv University, said that the ancient people tried to hide the jewelry, but for some reason, they could not return.

According to the researchers, the new jewelry was discovered, belonging to the period called 'Iron I' , and its origins probably stemmed from ancient Egypt.

Stone beads in jewelry are made from Carnelian stones. In particular, a gold earring is also decorated with a cast of wild goats. This was a typical Egyptian design during that period.

Currently, researchers are still looking for features of design, decorative motifs to be able to accurately identify the age, as well as the cultural context, related to the jewelry set.
