Oasen Water Company workers discovered a cooking pot containing 12 gold coins and 462 silver coins while laying pipes in the town of Hoef and Haag, Utrecht, Netherlands, in August 2017, Fox News reported. The details of the new discovery were announced at a press conference at Vianen that took place earlier this month.

When workers informed the manager, he contacted Landscape Heritage Utrecht. Experts quickly arrive and use metal detectors to collect all of them.

Many coins were stuck together and turned green. Some copper sticks to the fabric, it seems to be the fabric used to wrap the outer protection. The coins were transferred to the Utrecht environmental agency for analysis by archaeologist Peter de Boer.

Most of them date from the 1470s and 1480s. Among them, notably a rare Salut d'or gold of King Henry VI in England. In addition, experts found the coins belonging to David of Burgundy, a bishop in Utrecht in the 15th century, and Pope Paul II. It is unclear which organization or person will keep this ancient coin.
