Discovered a 6,600 year old gold pendant

Bulgari archaeologists discovered a 24-carat gold pendant with a date of 6,600 years in one of Europe's oldest prehistoric towns.

According to The Sofia Globe, a small two-gram pendant was found during excavations at Solnitsata cemetery, Varna region, Bulgaria in September 2015. According to archaeologists, the area may belong to a civilized society in prehistoric times, where people know how to handle and produce gold goods.

Think page in Solnitsata located north of the city of Provadia of Bulgaria. This place is famous for its two-storey houses and fortresses with high ramparts, born in 4300 BC. However, according to Professor Vassil Nikolov of Bulgarian Archaeological Institute, who led the study, the gold pendant is more likely to exist 200 to 300 years ago. Jewelry can be for both men and women as a symbol of high status in society.

"What's interesting is that the gold pendant we found is not in a grave but in the middle of the graves , proving a special ceremony. This is an example of the art of jewelry making. quite developed in that period, " said Professor Nikolov.

Several other gold artifacts have been discovered in many areas in Varna. In 1972, archaeologists found golden pieces of jewelry in Varna cemetery, only 37km east of Provadia.
