Sharks drag the herd to Cu Lao Cham
Last week, fishermen in Bai Lang village, Tan Hiep commune (Hoi An city, Quang Nam) continuously caught sharks on Cu Lao Cham beach, about 3-4 nautical miles from shore.
Mr. Nguyen Van An, Chairman of Commune People's Committee of Tan Hiep Island, Hoi An City, said about 10 sharks, each weighing 30 to 80kg has continuously raided fishermen in the past few days. Traders go to the island to buy sharks with prices from a few million to more than 10 million VND per child depending on the weight.

According to local fishermen, in recent years during the monsoon season (from September to 11 lunar year), sharks often pull the herd around Cu Lao Cham island to live in coral reefs to feed. So fishermen add one more job is shark.
Currently, there are more than 40 people specializing in shark fishing in Tan Hiep island. In recent days, "winning sharks" , they sold to traders to bring Hoi An City and Da Nang to sell to restaurants.
"At present, in the island commune, we still do not have any solutions to control, protect and conserve sharks when we search for food in Cu Lao Cham waters , " Mr. An added.
