Shining colors appear in China
A rainbow-like cloud appears above a city in southern China on June 5.
Colors appear on the giant cloud in Hainan Province, China.
People see the cloud in Wanning City, Hainan Province, China at sunset on June 5, China Foto Press reported. A photographer recorded this amazing and rare natural phenomenon.
"When the sun sets, the multicolored cloud disappears , " China Daily said.
The rainbow is the result of the dispersion of sunlight when it refracts and reflects through rain drops. In contrast, colorful clouds appear due to refractive sunlight and reflections after meeting ice crystals in the clouds. This is an extremely rare phenomenon, even when we compare their occurrences to the upside down rainbow.
