However, the Food Safety Supervision Agency, the Federal Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (Bfr), recently warned that many plastic cooking utensils, such as spoons, whisks, mending, grit, etc., contain substances. Oligomer harm infiltrates into food at temperatures above 70 degrees Celsius.
If ingested oligomer in high doses, users may have liver and thyroid disease. Oligomer is also associated with infertility, cancer and high cholesterol.
Therefore, housewives should not use these utensils to stir-fry cooking or hot food, as the high temperatures will cause the oligomer compound to spread and cling to food.
Bfr also recommends national governments to closely monitor the amount of oligomer chemicals manufacturers use in their products.
There is currently not much research on the effects of oligomer on human health. Experts from Bfr estimated the risk based on the danger level of similarly structured chemicals and concluded that just ingesting a small amount of about 90 mg of oligomer would be 60kg for an adult's health. affect.
According to them, to protect the health of themselves and their families, it is best to choose cooking utensils with safe materials, or only use plastic for cold food.
