Two Britons caught a bright blue shrimp, the result of an extremely rare genetic mutation in this species.
Steve Hatch and his uncle discovered it when catching shrimp at the Thames estuary on Sunday. The shrimp weighs nearly 0.7 kg. " I've heard about this type of shrimp but this is the first time I've seen it." He brought the shrimp to the Oceanographic Institute and he will live the rest of his life here.
Catherine Ellis, a tour guide at the Oceanography Institute, said only one of the 3 million shrimp is "true blue", the result of genetic changes rather than environmental conditions. . Sky blue shrimp produced an excessive amount of proteine because of gene mutations.
But if you put them in a pot, they will be red as well as your other brothers.
