Sleepy at daytime warning of serious illness

Daytime sleepiness is a sign that brain accumulation of amyloid protein causes neurons to be "strangled" and prone to Alzheimer's disease.

Sleepiness during the day not only shows that you rest well, but also warns of your risk , Health quoted the study of Mayo Hospital (USA) in JAMA Neurology.

To make this statement, the authors studied 283 volunteers over the age of 70 who were not insane. After seven years, scientists found that people who were often sleepy during the day had amyloid accumulation, the protein that appeared in Alzheimer's disease, which made them "strangled" . Previously, many biological works showed the brain cleanses amyloid during sleep.

Although no conclusions have been made that sleep causes amyloid to build up and lead to Alzheimer's, researchers emphasize the importance of sleep to keep the brain healthy.

"I hope the community will understand that good sleeping habits are important to have a healthy brain because it prevents accumulation of amyloid, one of the main proteins hidden under Alzheimer's disease," said Associate Professor of X-ray Prashanthi. Vemuri headed the recommendation.
