Smart memory chips replace RAM
Hewlett-Packard's researchers have successfully produced a memory chip circuit (Memristor) that can theoretically store up to 37 years. HP claims the future of this technology will replace RAM and make computers much smarter.

Memristor memory chips will allow computers to make decisions by understanding the data models collected so far - similar to the way the human brain collects and processes a sequence of events.
For example, the computer will be able to give the exact time to cook different types of food by microwaves based on the information it collects, said Stanley Williams, a senior expert at HP. . Some other advantages of Memristor memory chip circuit include low power consumption, fast boot time and more data storage than DRAM and Flash memory chips.
Although it was just a prototype, HP did its best to demonstrate the capabilities that the Memristor memory chip circuit can do. Williams experts predict that it will take at least 5 years for HP's memory technology to begin being introduced into commercial applications.
