In addition to the function of informing managers about the amount of waste to facilitate collection, in the future, smart waste products also have the ability to distribute wifi to users in public places.

This unique product is researched and developed by a group of students in computer network and communication technology of Hoa Sen University (Ho Chi Minh City), which helps to control the amount of waste in the bin and inform on the computer.

According to Tran Huu Phat, the leader of the research team, with the traditional garbage collection mechanism, the collection of waste by fixed route and fixed schedule reveals many disadvantages. Following a fixed route will lead to the situation where garbage trucks run to all trash bins, including waste bins, which takes time and fuel for garbage trucks. Scheduled garbage collection can cause waste bins to be overloaded before being collected.

"That fact has made the group want to create a solution that allows managers to know the status of trash to have an effective vehicle coordination strategy. At the same time help people find empty trash more easily, create beauty. Urban beauty " - Phat shared.

After months of detailed research, the group launched a smart waste product with a built-in ultrasonic sensor installed above the lid of the trash can. This sensor is set up at a distance of 20cm and there will be a full garbage LED system. At the same time, the ethernet shield chip sends a signal to the management system on the computer so that the manager can statistically monitor the amount of garbage at the container.

The management system was developed by the team with a GPS module that sends trash location coordinates to the web and displays it on google maps. When the recycle bin is full on the dump, it will be displayed in red, and the empty bin will show in green. The whole system is controlled by Intel Arduino circuit board.

Recalling memories in the process of making products, Tran Duong Minh Hai shared: " At one point, I really wanted to give up because of the deadlock in connecting devices attached at the trash to the computer. Because this is The work is assigned by the team and must be completed so the pressure on me is very great. "

After the meetings, the new team members "detected" Hai's problems and started the plans to support Hai to complete the task.

"From that story, I just learned a lesson of blood, working in a group is always more effective than going alone" - Hai shared.

The times of stalemate and tension in the process of finding solutions, the members sit together, tell funny stories, organize games to reduce stress. After that, the spirit of happiness returned as the members continued to "fight" with the electronic components and computers.

After the product was completed, the team calculated how the electronics were placed in the trash so as not to be affected by the weather conditions. The group has designed moisture-proof circuit and moisture-proof components, the inside of the circuit has heat dissipation so the circuit will not overheat when the environment temperature is high.

In the group, in the future, the smart trash will be developed by a team with a wifi transmitter so that pedestrians can use the internet in public places, turning trash can into multi-purpose and friendly device. .

"In addition, in the future, we will study the recommended method for garbage collectors the way to the shortest garbage bin to save time and costs" - Nguyen Cam Hong Phuoc, group member said .
