Sony built a new virtual world

Facing the continuous development and becoming more and more popular of social networks and the world of Japanese electronics company Sony has planned to build a virtual world for itself.

Sony's virtual world will be an online 3-D game similar to Second Life. The global player community will work together to build that world.

Sony's new virtual world platform is Home. This is a real-time networking system exclusively for PlayStation 3 players. Each player will have a character representing themselves in Home. They can buy clothes, furniture or even video games to play in virtual houses .

Sony's home will especially emphasize video games. The number of games included here will be very diverse. In addition, Sony will include various forms of multimedia content here.

The Home test version is expected to be released in April this year and the full-featured official version will be available early next year. Users are allowed to download completely for free on the PlayStation web site.

Sony's virtual world will be named LittleBigPlanet. In this world users will be free to build courses, quizzes or games for their characters . Characters will be called "sac boy".

Virtual world LittleBigPlanet is part of a strategy called by Sony "Game 3.0". This strategy has been introduced by executives at the newly hosted Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. Sony claims this will be a new revolution in the gaming industry.
