Sony is about to sell new ultra-small HD camcorders

Sony has just said that June will begin selling the high-definition (HD) micro-camcorder and record video directly to the memory card for $ 1,200.

HDR-CX7 is capable of recording 1080i resolution video directly to MemoryStick Pro Duo memory card. So far, Sony camcorders only have MiniDV tapes, DVD discs and hard drives to store videos, but no memory card. Storing with a memory card (taking up less space) will make the device lighter and smaller.

By using a memory card, converting the video to the PC will be simpler, just plug the card into the PC card reader! Currently, users still have to copy the video to a newly viewed PC, but by the middle of this year Sony's upgrade software will allow watching videos directly from the high-speed Pro Duo card or Pro HG MemoryStick card on both PC and PlayStation 3.

Recording video on a memory card also helps reduce camcorder battery consumption and noise reduction, but not so that this method has no weaknesses because memory cards are usually quite expensive and have limited storage capacity ( 30 minutes of highest resolution video on 4G memory card).

In addition to the 3MP sensor, HDR-CX7 can also capture images with 6MP native resolution. Other features of the camcorder include: 10x optical zoom tube, 2.7-inch widescreen display, sensitive LCD display. The HDR-CX7 weighs 450g, and measures 69x67x129-mm. The selling price of HDR-CX7 is set at US $ 1,200 in the US market.

In addition to HDR-CX7, Sony will also start selling two models of HD hard drive camcorders in June, the HDR-SR7 with 60GB hard drive and HDR-SR5 with 40GB hard drive. The HDR-SR7 is equipped with a 3MP image sensor, while the HDR-SR5 only has a 2MP sensor at a price of $ 1,400 and $ 1,100 (in the US market).
