The Spanish meteorite monitoring network confirmed that meteorites flew through the sky in 8 areas on the morning of September 7 (local time), Daily Mail reported. The burning meteorite formed a glowing fireball in the sky and left a long trail of smoke on the flight path.

Astronomer Jose Maria Trigo said: "We think meteorites can fly over the country, but because many places are thick clouds, people don't see them well, except in Barcelona."

The Spanish meteorological agency is studying the footage that people share on social networks and scientific data to determine where meteorites began to fall and in which area they fell.

Trigo said that meteorites could fall into a remote area, not be completely burned because of its size. Meteorites that enter the earth's atmosphere have a speed of 73 km / sec, so they will ignite due to friction with the air.

Meanwhile, emergency agencies in Spain receive a lot of calls from people because they think it could be a UFO or a fire plane.
