However, if you don't know how to use the medicine correctly, these drugs can be harmful to people.

Professor Tran Van Sung, Institute of Chemistry, said that the products of mosquito sprays, incense and mosquitoes often use materials of Pyrethrine family (extracted from chrysanthemum plants). This active substance when exposed to the environment will oxidize, turning into less toxic substances. However, if used extensively, it can cause poisoning.

Make the right dose of medicine

Phuong Mai Street (Dong Da District, Hanoi) is famous for a wide range of medical and pharmaceutical equipment dealers. Now this street has become a familiar address of people when they come to buy mosquito repellent. At shop number 29B, when the reporter asked for mosquito repellent, the mistress named N. quickly brought out two types of powder and liquid medicine. In time to ask about the price, the utility and the way to use it, she hurriedly said: ' Kill flies, mosquitoes, cockroaches . die all! Rest assured, from the day of the epidemic, many families and agencies come here to buy this medicine, it is very effective! '. Asking about how to use it, she said neatly: ' Just read the instructions carefully, it's simple !'. Ask more about how to spray, the owner said: 'It is not necessary to follow the recipe as instructed. If many mosquitoes are home, thicken them so they can die quickly . '

However, an official of the Institute of Industrial Chemistry said that the more powerful the product contains chemicals, the faster the insect will die, the higher the possibility of poisoning the exposed person . In particular, if it is a floating product on the market, the longer the chemical has an impact on insects after spraying, the more people must inhale these chemicals every day. Even for the insecticides issued by the Ministry of Health for safety certification, regular contact is not beneficial for health.

Need to spray properly

Professor Tran Van Sung said that before, insecticidal products were often produced in three groups: organochlorine-based groups (including substances such as Aldrin, DDVP, DDT, BHC, Lindane), groups of phosphorus Organic phosphorus (including Dichlorvos, Mathathion, Diazinon) and Pyrethrine-based group. Group 1 and 2 mosquito sprays have been banned for use because they are very toxic.Users can be poisoned without wearing a mask, having a skin allergy, watery eyes, itching, sneezing, difficulty breathing .

Currently most insecticide products are imported. Products of large firms are in group 3, which is the chemical composition of Pyrethrine. Its advantages are safe for humans, warm-blooded animals, relatively low concentrations. Most of these products are tested and assessed to affect people and animals.

When spraying these drugs, chemicals will stick to the surface of walls, cabinets, furniture. Insect pests will be paralyzed by the nervous system and die. Depending on the dosage, location, and spraying weather, mosquitoes are effective for 3 - 6 months with the dosage according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Professor Tran Van Sung gave instructions, people should only spray periodically every 3 - 6 months . Ideally after spraying from 30 minutes to an hour, it is recommended to open the door for ventilation. Do not let elderly and young children enter a new insecticide spray room to prevent side effects.

According to Dr. Nguyen Thuy Hoa, head of the Department of Insect and Biology, the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, shows the types of mosquito sprays, semi-insect insects operating under the principle of spraying and creating very small particles. Therefore, when spraying, it is recommended to spray on the principle from above, spread out so that the medicinal seeds are evenly spread over the area to be sprayed. In addition, sprayers must spray backwards, about 0.5 - 1 m away to avoid insecticide particles from entering the eyes.
