Stinking bugs in Vietnam are less likely to cause dangerous diseases

"Blood-stinking bugs are available in Vietnam, but those who are burned do not need to be too anxious, afraid of Chaga's sleeping sickness because there is no source of this disease", Dr. Ho Dinh Trung, Deputy Director of the Institute Malaria-Central Insect-Parasite said.

Recently, Dr. Truong Xuan Lam, Head of the Department of Experimental Insects, Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) said that he found many samples of kissing bugs in Hanoi. . This made him quite surprised because this species often lives in the midlands.

According to him, this type of insect belongs to the family of bugs that eat deeply, is brown, the body is large and flattened, has a curved nozzle with wings but is mainly cow. However, unlike the others in them, they have no odor and live on human blood or cattle. They often suck blood at night, however, because smoking is quite smooth, many people do not know.

"Many people do not know this type of insect so if you accidentally see it, you will not notice it. In some cases, it is burned a few times but you do not understand it, just see it on your hands and feet. , more than a week of fresh healing, " Dr. Lam said.

Pham Van Truong, a reader in Hai Phong shared, a year ago, the couple were burned by this type of bug. At first, they thought it was a mosquito so they got burned the next day but still burned. At first, the burning area was very itchy, the more it became, the more itchy, swollen and very long. After the couple was burned 6-7 times, he thought that his house had something. Flipping up the bed to search, but he only found the stink bug (as in the picture) below the bed. After that day, I saw no more burning.

Another reader said: "I used to suffer from this kind of insect burning for ten years. Sometimes it is sometimes, the bite is often swollen, hot and very itchy. At first I don't understand what bite, it is time to clear the bed to discover it. The dams are dead and there is a lot of blood in his abdomen. "

Not only does it cause itching and pain, many people who have been burned by this bug proved to be very worried, afraid of being infected with Chaga sleep.

According to researches around the world, this type of kissing bug is an intermediary of Trypanosoma cruzi parasite, causing Chaga disease. The disease usually has symptoms after one to three months, showing fatigue, dizziness, headaches and heavy sleep. In particular, pathogens can be incubated in the human body and diminish immunity, becoming chronic disease from 10 to 40 years later, leading to blood diseases such as blood vessel congestion, heart attack .

In some countries in Central and South America, there have been many cases of Chaga sleeping sickness caused by burning blood bugs. If burned, the patient will have high fever, diarrhea, drowsiness, when switching from acute to chronic, will have dangerous consequences.

According to Dr. Ho Dinh Trung, Deputy Director of the Central Institute of Malaria-Parasitology and Entomology, in Vietnam, there is also this type of bug, but its transmission ability is very low, if not almost have.

"The human bug bug bug is an intermediate type of disease transmission, it only causes disease when sucking blood in the source of the disease. But in Vietnam there is no pathogen, assuming it is, it is also extremely small so the bugs are infected. The risk of spreading the disease to humans is also negligible, at this time, our country has not recorded a case of Chaga disease, " Dr. Trung said.

According to scientists, this type of kissing bug usually lives in dark places such as bed slots, under mats, cupboards . The best way to destroy it is to find, catch and kill, not spray . The reason is that during the day they often hide very carefully, in the nooks and crannies it is difficult to spray the medicine into.

Besides finding adults, people also need to look for and remove their eggs. Eggs are often laid and clinging to the outer wall of cabinet beds, big, clustered, ivory white so easily recognizable.

The burned areas often become itchy, the more scratching the itch, then the pain and swelling, 10-12 days to heal. Therefore, if you are burned, you can go to a dermatologist for topical medications, painkillers. In addition, according to a reader in Da Nang, after two times being burned, she learned from experience that the sting was soaked in warm water and smeared with medicine. At the same time, trying not to scratch the burning area, itching is too much, but it can be ulcerated longer.
