In adults, the senses are handled by the brain independently but when we are young the senses are connected. As the brain develops, a gene is responsible for severing the connections between the senses. In some rare situations, the process of disconnecting is incomplete and leads to strange diseases like Mr. James has met.

He said the first virtual taste in his memories was smoked fat meat in the morning prayers at kindergarten, when he was 4 1/2 years old."It feels like people are dropping every drop of food on the tip of your tongue" - he said.

If James heard the sound of barking, he would taste sweet honey. The word "like" tastes of yogurt, while the name "Martin" tastes like cake. Words that end in "-ge" like "college", "message" help James taste the sausage.

James was diagnosed with Synaesthesia when he was 30 years old.The world medicine has not yet found a way to cure this strange disease. In some cases, symptoms decrease as the patient matures. For James alone, he said he did not want to give up this strange ability, because it was like a part of life.

The biggest nuisance of James and other patients is that they don't always taste delicious food. Until now, James still hated the French lessons because the pronunciation of this language constantly forced him to taste . the eggs of cancer. Whenever he heard the name "Mark" , James felt like he had to lick the tip of a pencil, and "David" made him feel like he had to eat . cloth. He also had to taste many different metal objects.

James is living in Germany, a country where his language has made him love childhood since the words in German always give him a taste of good jam.
