Strange light in the American sky

A senior scientist from the US Aerospace Agency (NASA) said yesterday that the strange halo in the sky in southwestern United States on September 14 may be the product of a meteorite as it plunges Earth's atmosphere.

AP reported that many Americans in the states from California to Arizona informed officials and media that they saw a halo moving fast from west to east around 1945 hours on September 14 local time. . Many witnesses described it as a pale green halo, while some said its color was yellow and orange. Some people have filmed the halo video and posted it on social pages.

Don Yeomans, Program Director of NASA's Near-Earth Objects, said that the halo may be a basketball-sized meteorite. It rushed into the atmosphere and broke into pieces before falling to the ground. This phenomenon occurs every week, but meteorites often plunge into the ocean so no one sees it.

'Large basketball meteorites rarely appear above populated areas , ' Yeomans said.

On the Twitter social network, people discuss lively about the halo. Many people believe that it could be an alien flying saucer, or the spacecraft stopped working.

Yeomans says the light green color of the halo shows objects containing magnesium or nickel. Orange is a sign that objects strike the atmosphere at a rate of several kilometers per second. He eliminated the possibility that the object was a 'dead' spacecraft falling back to earth, because NASA was able to predict such phenomena. The US Federal Aviation Authority also confirmed that no aircraft accidents occurred in areas where people saw the halo.
