Strange virus attacks cattle in Quang Nam border

Cattle in the border district of Tay Giang and Quang Nam are being attacked by 'strange' viruses, potentially causing great damage due to widespread spread.

Immediately after detecting the pathological signs of foot-and-mouth disease in cattle flared in mountainous communes in border areas of Tay Giang and Quang Nam districts. Local authorities have quickly announced epidemics and controlled siege organization.

However, the epidemic broke out and spread widely. From the date of the announcement on September 13, it has spread across the country with more than 80 infected children and difficult to treat.

In the afternoon of September 15, Deputy Director of Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Nam Le Muon personally inspected and directed specialized agencies to investigate epidemiology and testing to find out the cause.

The test identified the 'strange' virus that attacked the cattle in this mountainous district with the scientific name Sero type A.

This is the first virus to appear in Quang Nam cattle. The most interesting thing now is the emergence of Sero type A, which is thought to have a strong virulence, which poses a greater risk of animal infection than the old ones - Mr. Muo said.

The appearance of this virus is quite strange, but according to experts, there is a phenomenon of 'leapfrogging'. Because in the Central region, Sero type A appeared in Ha Tinh, Quang Ngai years ago and this time 'jumped' to Quang Nam province. The specialized agency has not found a way to spread this new virus.

In order to cope with the new virus strain, Quang Nam's veterinary agency must replace other vaccines, from single-type vaccines to multi-types. Interestingly, the price of each type of vaccine is more than double that of the old vaccine.

At A Vuong commune officially announced the translation, Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee carried out delineating 13 communes in 3 mountainous districts of Tay Giang, Dong Giang and Nam Giang to control the epidemic and buffer zones to prevent the epidemic from spreading to the delta. .
