Successful farming of two pangolin species in Cuc Phuong garden

In the conservation of animals, Cuc Phuong National Park is the only facility in Vietnam that has successfully researched two Asian pangolins with artificial feed and successful breeding conditions. captive.

Cuc Phuong National Park is preserving 150 individuals of 15 rare species and primates of Vietnam, including 9 species that breed and nurture successfully in captivity, a rare result for gibbons and langurs.

Implementing the turtle conservation program, the park is the first place to successfully breed 11 Vietnamese turtles and freshwater turtles and is rescuing and caring for 20 Vietnamese turtles. Every year the garden organizes a natural release for hundreds of individuals to be rescued and reproduced here, contributing to the conservation of endangered turtles.

The park also conducts genetic conservation and releases it naturally to restore the species of deer and deer found in Cuc Phuong natural forest. Animals such as porcupines, white pheasants, forest chickens . are growing and reproducing very well at Cuc Phuong.

Over the past years, the Park has provided these animal breeds to the community for economic development, opening new directions suitable to the natural conditions of the region.

To collect and breed rare and precious species for genetic preservation, Cuc Phuong National Park has built a botanical garden with an area of ​​180ha, collecting 811 species of trees. Among them, there are 210 species of Cuc Phuong tree species, 85 species of timber trees in other areas of Vietnam, 5 species of exotic species, 25 species of Cuc Phuong's family, 20 species of fruit trees, 15 species of bamboos, 15 species coconut palm, 296 species of medicinal plants and 140 orchids. There are many well-developed tree species, providing seeds for forest planting programs in the region and across the country.

Cuc Phuong National Park currently has nearly 2,200 higher plants of 1,007 genera, 223 families of 7 branches. Including 118 rare and precious species, 433 species of medicinal plants, 229 species of edible plants . Especially, among newly discovered species, there are 2 new plant genera for Vietnam, 1 new genus and 1 new species. for science. The number of invertebrate animals in Cuc Phuong has 1899 species with 454 species of hard wing, 378 species of winged set, 314 species of hymenoptera .

Cuc Phuong is also home to 661 vertebrate species, including 136 mammal species, 336 bird species, 76 reptile species, 46 amphibian species and 66 species of fish. There are 64 species in the Vietnam Red Book, 33 species in the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). In particular, there are three new species of Cuc Phuong endemic to discovering science such as red-tailed squirrel, squirrel fish and Cuc Phuong lizard.
