Successfully produced artificial land
Scientists at the Federal University of Siberia in Krasnoyarsk (Russia) have successfully researched and developed artificial land, called Biomat, to effectively rehabilitate degraded land. coloring, coloring and cultivation.
When needed, biomat can be added to the expansion gel to increase water holding capacity.
Alum Burnova, a member of the research team, said that the biomass was made from natural fibers, saturated so long in a special solution.
The gaps between the above fibers are covered by naturally-occurring organic compounds and are biologically active. When needed, biomat can be added to the expansion gel to increase the water holding capacity needed for the seedlings.
Mrs Burnova described Biomat as a 'very light' carpet , which can be used everywhere, especially in remote northern Russian lands where farming is difficult due to land availability. These areas are often devastated by harsh climates.
Biomass will decompose itself in 4-5 years and the substance after decomposition becomes the nutrient of the soil, creating fertility for the plant to use.
