Suddenly the island floated off North Carolina

A new island has just formed off the national coast of Cape Hatteras of North Carolina, USA.

The BBC on June 29 said the island was 1.6 km long and the island's area changed depending on the tide and the weather. The island lies about 330 meters from the mainland by a strait.

According to the Island Free Press, local people first discovered the island after a loud noise on the sea in April.

A tourist living in Connecticut captured this island and posted photos on Instagram that made more and more curious visitors visit this emerging island.

"My fiancée and I were driving to the area after the storm to collect shellfish and found a place where we could not drive," narrated photographer Chad Koczera.

"I used an unmanned aircraft to check the island and realized it was a beautiful place. However, we did not have the opportunity to set foot on the island due to the strong flow" - Mr. Koczera remember that time.

Experts explain that the Outer Banks coastline, stretching more than 300 km outside the state of North Carolina, is constantly shifting. So there are sandy strips that will rise or sink to the sea.

Local authorities have also issued warnings to tourists about trying to swim through this emerging island. They recommend that visitors use boats to ensure their safety.

Strong currents flow through the strait between the mainland and the island can blow a person swimming out to sea. In addition, local authorities have seen sharks and stingrays in this area.
