According to AFP, the storm was stronger when approaching Taiwan, with a wind speed of 227km / h. Big waves hit the east coast and Taipei, but no injuries were reported.

"The storm accelerated in the past few hours, however, will slow down when it reaches the mountains in the east," an official from the Central Weather Bureau said.

Dujuan has landed in Yilan, northern Taiwan, which has 500mm rain level in the past 24 hours. Visitors to eastern Taiwan for a mid-autumn break panicked, squeezing each other onto the train to leave before the trains had to stop working. Railway service in the west must also be suspended. Tens of thousands of homes in the north lost power.

Officials warn that coastal areas may be particularly dangerous because the tide is affected by the phenomenon of super moon, when the moon is brighter and larger.

China has the highest red alert level with super typhoon Dujuan. Nearly 3,000 people yesterday were evacuated from Green Island and Orchid Island, which attracted many tourists.

More than 4,000 people today were evacuated before the storm. More than 24,000 soldiers were deployed to be ready to aid and evacuate people. About 100 refuge points were erected. Emergency response centers are also set up in the north and east.
