Super Typhoon Melor landed in the Philippines, 3 people died

At least 3 people died and tens of thousands of people were evacuated when super typhoon Melor began to land Philippines last night.

Super Typhoon Melor swept through the central part of the Philippines this morning carrying heavy rain and strong winds.Among those killed, one died from hypothermia, two drowned.They all live in Catarman, a poor fishing town in North Samar province, south of Manila.

According to the Philippines Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMC), heavy storms caused many trees to fall and cause power outages in at least 7 provinces.Lamps, corrugated iron, broken tree branches are scattered on the streets of Legazpi city.Philippine officials ordered cancellation of 53 flights on December 14 and 16 domestic flights on December 15.(Photo: AFP).
