Recently, Egyptian archaeologists have discovered a prehistoric Egyptian cemetery , the special thing is that this cemetery is unlike anything they have ever found before.

Ancient Egypt possesses a rich history, a mysterious civilization that captures the imagination of millions of people. British Egyptologist William Matthew Flinders Petrie once published his research, which featured fragments from a colossal statue of Ramses II, an Egyptian pharaoh.

It is known that the pharaohs began to rule in Egypt in 3,000 BC, when Upper and Lower Egypt united. The regime was abolished in 343 BC, but the pharaohs have affirmed themselves as the immortal kings of the country through the magnificent and large tomb architecture and construction. Even so, before the time of the pharaohs there existed an even more ancient society.

Prehistoric Egypt spans from the earliest human settlement to the early pharaohs, where kings ruled over their subjects. In 2015, archaeologists dug at Hierakonpolis , the religious and political capital of Upper Egypt at the end of prehistoric times, and came across an unprecedented sight. Their discovery was revealed in the Smithsonian Channel documentary, "Secret: Monsters of the Pharaohs".

Excavations by archaeologist Renée Friedman and her team have uncovered a range of animal carcasses originating from across the African continent. Later, further investigations made it clear that these animals were bred in captivity to serve humans.

For Friedman, there was only one possible explanation: " This is essentially the world's first zoo . They've been doing this for over 6,000 years, even before the invention of writing. , before even making the potter's wheel. And most especially, this work appeared before the king's pyramids".

Animals play an important role in Egypt's religious symbolism, shaping the country's legendary artistic style and also influencing the culture of later kingdoms. "Many of these animals were buried at the same time, because their dates are almost identical," says Friedman .

Interestingly, the animals did not die of natural causes, they were all systematically killed and buried around the rulers. Standing in front of a ruler's grave, Ms. Friedman explained: "This ruler, like everyone else around, was all buried among some kind of animal. There was a leopard, a baboon, an oryx, crocodile and an ostrich".

The team's research shows that when a ruler dies, animals are killed and buried with him. This was probably to ensure that they would protect and accompany the ruler to the afterlife.
