Sweden: Check DNA by smartphone
With new research by Swedish scientists, users can test DNA with just one smartphone.
Developers said the device could cost less than $ 500.
Researchers in Sweden have created a 3D microscope to attach to the phone case. This device is composed of 2 LEDs and a lens to turn the camera on the phone into a molecular microscope.
Manipulation is quite easy, users just need to put samples into the compartment for the phone to analyze DNA sequences and detect variations such as cancer cells, bacteria or viruses. Developers said the device could cost less than $ 500.
Smart phones can be said to be unseen by many people, not simply to call or text. With this technology, scientists hope to help replace bulky and expensive DNA testing equipment in today's laboratories.
