The world's largest factory designed to suck carbon dioxide (CO2) out of the atmosphere like a giant vacuum machine began operating in Iceland on May 8.

Although it works to collect CO2 and cut greenhouse gases, technology can consume 1/4 of global energy by 2100.

An international team of scientists has been trying to turn CO2 into hard minerals over the past few years.
