Tall people are often smarter?

A new study has found a close link between our height and our IQ, implying that lower people are generally less likely to be smarter.

Scientists have identified genes that affect both height and IQ. They claim to have a significant genetic correlation between these two factors. The conclusion was drawn after British experts studied more than 6,800 people without a kinship relationship. This is the first study to analyze DNA markers in such a way.

Researcher Riccardo Marioni from the Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine at the University of Edinburgh, emphasized that the relationship is small but very important. According to research reports submitted to Behavior Genetics journal, Marioni and colleagues explain that about 70% of this link is inherited and the rest is influenced by the environment.

The statement is likely to face criticism of millions of Britons who are lower than the average height, 1m6 for women and 1m75 for men. One of them is certainly John Bercow, Chairman of the British House of Representatives with a height of 1m65, lower than his wife with a " height " of 1m8.

However, among those who are vividly demonstrating this hypothesis is the famous Hollywood director David Cameron, who is endowed with both height (1m82) and intelligence; or actress Kate Beckinsale (1m7), who holds a bachelor's degree in French literature and Russian literature at Oxford University, as well as fluent in both languages.

Despite the controversy, the team hopes, revealing the genetic correlation between height and IQ can help predict a person's health problems.

Previous studies have associated low physique with increased risk of cardiovascular disease. In contrast, people with high IQ were found to be associated with prolonged lifespan and risk of coronary heart disease, stroke and lower suicide.

Experts from Oxford University have recently discovered that the lower feeling makes people paranoid, suspicious and afraid of others.
